AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The Bowdoin College baseball team rallied to
win game one and dominated game two in a sweep of Hamilton College
on Tuesday. The Polar Bears took the opener 5-4 before crushing the
Continentals 17-0 in the nightcap.
Down to their final out in the first game, Bowdoin tied the game
on a two-run double by Brett Gorman that plated Adam Marquit and
Nick Tom. Kevin Zikaras rapped a line drive over the second baseman
to score Gorman and give the Polar Bears the lead. Matt Ruane
homered in the second inning while Gorman finished with three RBI
for the game. Joe Comizio earned the win in relief for Bowdoin.
Evan Farley dominated on the mound in game two, taking a no-hitter
into the final inning and finishing with a one-hit shutout, using
just 70 pitches. An explosive offensive outburst saw the Polar
Bears score eight batters reach base before an out was recorded in
the second inning. Ian Edwards was the hitting star, going 4-5 with
two home runs, a double and six RBI. Gorman collected two more hits
and two RBI.
