BRUNSWICK, Maine - Amy Hackett scored a career-high 25 points as
the Bowdoin College
women's basketball team cruised to a 91-34 victory over the
University of Maine-Farmington on Tuesday evening at Morrell
Gymnasium. The Polar Bears, who scored a season-high in points,
improve to 17-5 with the win while the Beavers fall to 8-11
overall.
Bowdoin suffocated Maine-Farmington in the opening half, holding
the visitors to 29% shooting and forcing 17 turnovers. Meanwhile,
Bowdoin connected on five three-pointers, including three trifectas
from Amy Hackett, who matched the Beavers' first-half total with15
points. Tied at five after five minutes of play, the Polar Bears
outscored the Beavers 38-10 over the remaining 15 minutes and
carried a 43-15 edge into the break.
The Polar Bears shot 50% from the field in the second half en
route to victory. Hackett's career-high easily surpasses her
previous high of 16 set earlier this season. She also collected
four steals in the win and led four Bowdoin players in double
figures. Sabrina Cote and Ellery Gould added 12 points apiece while
Caitlin Hynes had 10. Madison Whitley added a career-high nine
points for the Polar Bears, who held a 52-34 edge in rebounding and
committed just six turnovers for the game.
Caitlyn Laflin led all Farmington players with 10 points and eight
rebounds in the loss.
