WATERVILLE, Maine - The Bowdoin College swimming and diving teams
dominated Colby in a dual-meet on Saturday afternoon, as both
squads claimed their respective CBB Championships. The Polar Bear
men cruised to a 175-111 victory while the women's team eased to a
171.5-128.5 win. Both teams conclude their dual-meet schedules with
a 4-2 record.
Katherine Foley and Allen Garner each won three individual events
for the Polar Bear women. Foley won the 200 freestyle (1:56.17),
500 free (5:12.85) and 1000 free (10:40.74) while Garner claimed
the 100 (1:01.39) and 200 backstroke (2:12.74) and 200 IM
(2:13.14). Other winners included Caitlin Callahan in the 100
breaststroke (1:10.33) and Kaley Kokomoor in the 50 free (25.64).
Ginger Leone claimed the one-meter diving competition (172.45)
while Mae Speight won the three-meter event (181.10).
In the relay events, Bowdoin won the 800 freestyle (8:01.60) behind
Sarah Hirschfield,
Megan Sullivan, Garner and Foley and the 200 medley (1:54.44)
thanks to Erin McAuliffe, Callahan, Emily Shoemaker and
Kokomoor.
A quartet of Polar Bear men won a pair of events on Saturday. Basyl
Stuyvesant placed first in the 100 (53.82) and 200 backstroke
(1:57.03) while Nathan Mecray won the 100 breaststroke (58.22) and
100 freestyle (47.67). Mac Routh took gold in the 50 free (22.44)
and 100 fly (53.13). Zach Perez claimed the 200 breaststroke
(2:17.74) and 200 IM (2:05.18). Kevin Kowalko earned first place
honors in the men's one-meter dive (90.85) while teammate Daniel
Jeong took the three-meter competition (119.10).
The Bowdoin men also won the 200 medley team (1:37.81) of
Stuyvesant, Mecray, Routh and EJ Googins taking first place.
