Bowdoin Swim Teams Compete at MIT Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Bowdoin College men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed at the MIT Invitational last weekend. The Polar Bear men finished fifth of six squads while the women claimed sixth of seven teams.

Top finishers for Bowdoin on the men's side included Nathan Mecray placing fourth in both the 50 yard freestyle (21.31) and 100 yard freestyle (47.12). Linc Rhodes took a solid fifth-place showing in the 200 butterfly in 2:00.18) for the Polar Bears. Other impressive finishes included Chris Granata taking seventh in the 100 yard butterfly (54.19) with Ryan Peabody earning eighth in the 400 IM (4:23.38) and ninth in the 200 backstroke (2:04.08).  The men's 400 medley relay team of Basyl Stuyvesant, Mecray, Granata and Peabody placed fifth overall in 3:36.60.

Allen Garner posted the top individual showings on the women's side, taking fourth in the 200 yard backstroke (2:15.25) and sixth in the 400 IM a time of 4:51.96. Christine Rholl was ninth in the 200 backstroke event (2:18.45) and the 400 IM (4:54.96) for the Polar Bears. The top relay finish for the women came in the 200 freestyle relay as Kaley Kokomoor, Garner, Allison Palmer and Peyton Morss combined for a sixth-place showing (1:41.93).

Bowdoin will return to intercollegiate action after break when they travel to compete at Bates on January 15.
