BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College field hockey team scored
three times in a span of 11:38 to put away visiting Connecticut
College, 3-0, at Ryan Field on Saturday. The unbeaten and
sixth-ranked Polar Bears improve to 6-0 (4-0 NESCAC) while the
Camels fall to 5-2 (2-2
NESCAC) with the loss.
Bowdoin has not permitted a goal in their last 238:18 of play,
dating back to September 18.
After out-shooting the Camels for the majority of the first half,
Bowdoin was finally able to convert twice in the final nine minutes
before halftime. Cathleen
Smith put home a shot from the right wing at 26:55 before Jessie Small received a
nice feed from Olivia
King on the doorstep and tapped it into the cage for a two-goal
lead at intermission.
Bowdoin sealed the win early in the second half as Katie Herter knocked home her
team-leading ninth goal of the season at 38:33. Aimee Rich made 13
saves in the loss for the Camels while Emily Neilson was forced to
make two stops for the Polar Bears. Bowdoin held a 13-2 edge in
penalty corners and 35-4 advantage in shots.
