Swim Teams Earn Split Against Wesleyan, Trinity

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Bowdoin College swimming and diving teams posted split results in a meet against Wesleyan and Trinity on Saturday.

The Polar Bear women lost to the host Cardinals 168.00-131.00 but claimed a 200.00-89.00 decision over the Bantams. The men's team did the same, downing Trinity 169.50-126.50 but falling to Wesleyan 180.00-117.00.

Both squads stand at 3-2 in dual meets this season.

Katherine Foley led the women's team with a pair of victories in the 500 (5:11.36) and 1000 freestyle (10:44.82). Caitlin Callahan won the 100 breaststroke (1:10.07) while Allen Garner took the gold in the 200 backstroke (2:12.23). The women's 400 freestyle relay team of Kaley Kokomoor, Garner, Emily Shoemaker and Foley also placed first in a time of 3:43.67.

A trio of Polar Bear men earned multiple wins, led by Basyl Stuyvesant in the 100 (54.06) and 200 backstroke (1:56.81). Nathan Mecray claimed the 100 breaststroke (57.99) and the 100 freestyle (47.71) while Mac Routh won the 50 free (22.13) and 100 butterfly (53.49). The 400 medley relay team of Stuyvesant, Mecray, Routh and EJ Googins earned an additional win in a time of 3:36.82.
