WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - In their final doubleheader of their spring
break trip, the Bowdoin College Polar Bears split against Ramapo.
The Polar Bears won game one, 9-2, before dropping game two, 9-5.
Bowdoin ends their spring trip with a record of 10-8.
Tim Welch tossed a complete game, allowing no earned runs to garner
the victory in the opener. Matt Ruane was the star at the plate,
rapping out three hits and a pair of rbi's. Adam Marquit had two
hits for the Polar Bears in the victory. In game two, Bowdoin
squandered a 5-2 lead and permitted seven runs over the final four
innings in the defeat. Brett Gorman had two hits, as did Reid
Auger, who extended his hitting streak to 17 games.
As a team, Bowdoin averaged 7.9 runs per game in Florida. Joe Berte
led all Polar Bears with a .467 batting average, .583 on-base
percentage with three homers and 12 rbi's. Kevin Zikaras batted
.400 with 10 stolen bases and 12 rbi's while Gorman finished at
.391 with a team-high 16 rbi's. Ben Higgins (2-1, 3.38 ERA), Joe
Pace (2-0, 4.00) and Pat Driscoll (2-1, 4.86) each earned multiple
wins on the mound.
