SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. - Kyle Shearer-Hardy scored a pair of
goals to lead the Bowdoin College men's ice hockey team to a 4-1
win at St. Michael's College on Friday evening. The Polar Bears
improve to 11-10-1 overall this season while the Purple Knights
fall to 7-14-2.
After 15 minutes of scoreless hockey, Bowdoin struck first with
4:28 left in the opening frame when Hardy fed Owen Smith for his
third goal of the season. The Purple Knights would then even the
score at one, 1:12 after Smith's tally, with Vorozilchak and
Mero setting up Brunton for the junior's first career goal.
The Polar Bears would regain their one-goal lead with 2:21 left in
the period when Mike Collins netted his fourth score of the season,
coming from Jordan Lalor.
The Polar Bears extended their lead to two with 5:14 remaining in
the second period when Hardy notched his 11th goal of the season,
which came from Fidler and Fanning. Bowdoin would tally their
fourth score of the game, 1:16 into the final frame, when Fanning
and Fry found Hardy for the sophomore's second goal of the
game. The Polar Bears would out shoot the Purple Knights 11-5 in
the final period en route to the three-goal victory.
Chris Rossi stopped 26 shots in the win for Bowdoin while Brendan
Rimmer stopped 38 in goal for St. Michael's.
