BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College swim teams split their
home-opening meet on Saturday at Leroy Greason pool, both defeating
Babson but falling to MIT. The Polar Bear men sank the Beavers
185-99 and bowed to the Engineers 232-57. The Bowdoin women
outscored Babson 215-75 and suffered a 203-96 setback to MIT.
In the women's meet, Bowdoin posted three winners. Allen Garner
won the 1000 yard freestyle, Caitlin Callahan claimed the 100 yard
breaststroke and Allison Palmer took the 50 free sprint.
The top performers on the men's side included Nathan Mecray, who
finished second in both the 100 yard breaststroke and freestyle,
and Basyl Stuyvesant, who earned a runner-up finish in the 200 yard
backstroke.
