NEW LONDON, Conn. — Greg Parker stopped 34 of 35 shots in
goal to lead Connecticut College (8-5-2, 4-4-2) to a 3-1 NESCAC
victory against Bowdoin College (7-6-1, 4-5-1) at Connecticut
College's Dayton Arena Friday night. It was the third straight
victory for the Camels, who improved their home record to 7-0-1
with the win.
Senior defenseman Brian Warner contributed a goal and an assist
for the hosts. Junior Brett Moore notched his fifth goal and
team-leading 16th point that proved to be the game-winner in the
contest. Trevor Bradley added a first period goal for the
Camels.
Leland Fidler accounted for the Bowdoin offense with a shorthanded
goal in the third period. Rookie net-minder Richard Nerland had 18
saves in the setback.
The Camels took a 1-0 lead on Bradley's power play goal with
4:11 remaining in the first period. Lucas Chavira Schramm assisted
on the tally and the Camels carried a one goal lead into the first
intermission.
The Polar Bears out-shot the Camels 10-to-8 in the second but
neither side could find the back of the net and the Camels
continued to cling to a one goal lead.
In the third period, the Camels added a critical insurance goal
just 16 seconds into the frame. Brett Moore scored his fifth goal
of the season. Julian Boutet and Warner assisted on the tally. It
was Moore's sixth point in his last three outings.
Midway through the period, Fidler converted his shorty to pull the
visitors within a goal in a 2-1 battle. The Camels responded
though, executing on their power play to score just 59 seconds
later and regain their two goal advantage.
Junior Sean Driscoll assisted Warner for the insurance tally to
make it a 3-1 contest. Parker had 14 of his 34 stops in the third
period and the Camels were able to hold on for the victory.
