Polar Bears Sweep Bates in Return From Break

COMPLETE RESULTS

LEWISTON, Maine - The Bowdoin College swimming and diving teams swept Bates in a meet hosted by the Bobcats on Saturday. The Polar Bears edged the Bobcats 147-142 in the women's meet and took a 179-105 victory in the men's competition.

Led by multiple winners Caitlin Callahan, Allen Garner and Allison Palmer, Bowdoin edged Bates in the women's meet. Garner captured the 200 and 500 freestyle swims while Callahan won the 100 and 200 breaststrokes. Palmer was victorious in he 50 and 100 free events. Other winners included Emma Chiappetta (200 butterfly) and Megan Sullivan (100 butterfly).

On the men's side, Bowdoin cruised to victory thanks to several strong performances. Max Goldstein (200 butterfly, 400 individual medley), Nathan Mecray (50 free, 100 free) and Zach Perez (100, 200 breaststroke) claimed multiple wins for the Polar Bears. Also placing first were David Wells (500 free), Mac Routh (100 butterfly), Ian Wandner (one meter diving), Isaac Ardis (three meter diving) and Dominic Finelli (200 free). Bowdoin's 400 medley relay squad of Mecray, Routh, Josh Kimball and David Swanson were also first.

Bowdoin will return to action at Maine-Orono next Saturday, January 24.
