CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Bowdoin College men's swimming and diving
team placed fifth while the women's squad earned sixth at the MIT
Invitational this weekend.
Top finishes for the women's team included Allison Palmer, who
earned second place in the 50 yard freestyle, fourth in the 100
yard free and was a member of two top relay showings. Palmer
anchored the team's victory in the 200 medley relay with Erin
McAuliffe, Caitlin Callahan and Erin McAuliffe. The same foursome
earned a second-place showing in the 400 medley event. Callahan
would also place second in the 100 yard breaststroke while
McAuliffe took fifth in both the 100 and 200 yard backstroke races.
Other top individual performances included Allen Garner's
third-place in the 200 yard freestyle and Megan Sullivan's seventh
place in the 100 yard butterfly and eighth in the 100 free.
Bowdoin's 800 yard free relay team of Garner, Sullivan, Palmer and
Emma Chiappetta took a fifth place finish. Chiappetta also took
fourth place individually in the 200 yard butterfly.
Nathan Mecray led the men's team by winning the 100 yard
breaststroke competition and taking fourth in the 50 yard free
event. In addition to placing fifth in the 100 yard free, Mecray
was also a member of the 400 medley relay team that finished sixth
with Josh Kimball, Mac Routh and David Swanson. Routh captured a
seventh-place finish in the 100 yard butterfly while Max Goldstein
earned eighth in the 200 yard breaststroke. Isaac Ardis took an
eighth-place showing in the men's three-meter diving competition.
