BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College men's lacrosse senior Kevin
Mullins (Duxbury, Mass.) has been honored as the New England
Intercollegiate Lacrosse Associaton and New England Small College
Athletic Conference player the week. Mullins led the Polar Bears to
a key 9-7 NESCAC victory over Trinity on Saturday, lifting the
Polar Bears to 4-4 this season.
One of Bowdoin's quad-captains, Mullins had a hand in six of the
Polar Bears' nine goals in the win over the Bantams, scoring a
career-high four goals with two assists. Mullins keyed a
second-half spurt for the Polar Bears that proved crucial to the
victory. After Trinity had closed the deficit to one goal, 5-4,
midway through the third quarter, Mullins fed Thadd Welch for a
goal just 12 seconds later, scored an unassisted tally just 16
seconds before the period ended and then fed Welch for another
score early in the fourth quarter to push Bowdoin's lead to 8-4. He
is second on the squad with 13 points this year.
Bowdoin will return to action on Tuesday night when they travel to
play Springfield College in North Andover, Massachusetts. The Polar
Bears resume conference play this Saturday with a crucial game at
home against NESCAC-leader Tufts at 1:00 p.m.
