BRUNSWICK, Maine - On the strength of strong weekend
performances, the Bowdoin College men's and women's ice hockey
teams moved up in their respective polls released on Monday by U.S.
College Hockey Online. The Polar Bear women improved to second
overall in the nation, while the men moved up to fifth in the
country.
The women's team tied top-ranked Elmira 2-2 on Saturday and
blanked Utica on Sunday to improve their overall record to 3-0-1 on
the season. They jumped one spot, ahead of Manhattanville, who
falls to third in the nation. Elmira retains the top spot, but
Bowdoin managed to grab two first-place votes. The Polar Bears will
play host to Hamilton and Amherst next weekend.

After falling in an exhibition match to the U.S. Under-18 team
on Saturday, the Polar Bears took our their aggression on Curry
Sunday, dominating the Colonels 10-2. Bowdoin is 3-0-0 and stands
at number five in the nation as the top-ranked NESCAC squad.
Middlebury dropped to seventh spot overall, while Norwich retained
the top spot after claiming the Primelink Shootout last weekend.
Bowdoin will host Colby on Tuesday night and travel to Skidmore and
Mass. College next weekend.
