Volleyball falls to No. 14 WashU to wrap Bear Invite Sunday

ST. LOUIS – The Bowdoin College volleyball team wrapped the Bear Invite with a 3-0 loss to No. 14 nationally-ranked Washington University on Sunday. The Polar Bears complete the opening weekend with a 2-1 record. 

WashU Match Highlights

  • The Bears claimed the win by set scores of 25-17, 25-20 and 25-21. The third set saw 10 ties and six lead changes.

  • Skye LaMendola (9), Alison Smith (9), Zoe Ryu (7) and Tamara Gisiger (6) led the team in kills.

  • Gisiger hit .417 while combining with Hannah Woolley as the team-leader with four blocks, respectively.

  • Cameron Shelly (18) and Molly Dunn (14) each reached double-figure assists.

  • Shelly (13) and Anna Yeh (11) led the team in digs while Ryu added seven.

Up Next

  • Bowdoin returns to action next week traveling to Medford, Massachusetts, for the Tufts Invitational, held on Sep. 11-12. The Polar Bears will face Trinity University on Friday at 4:30 p.m. with Saturday's contests being against Salisbury University at 11:00 a.m. and host Tufts at 5:00 p.m.
