Volleyball Wins Two in Connecticut Saturday

Hartford, Conn. – The Bowdoin College volleyball team completed a four-game week with two wins Saturday in Hartford Connecticut earning a 3-0 NESCAC sweep over Trinity before a reverse sweep over UMass Boston 3-2 to conclude the weekend. 

The Polar Bears have rattled off four-straight wins for an overall record of 7-3 and a 2-0 ledger in league play while Trinity drops to 5-2 overall (0-2 NESCAC) and UMass Boston falls to 7-3 overall.

Trinity Highlights

  • The two teams battled in the first set seeing the away team squeak away with a 27-25 decision. 

  • The Polar Bears went on to take the final two sets 25-20 and 25-18.

  • Alison Smith led the attack with 10 kills while Cameron Shelly and Molly Dunn each had 16 assists and Anna Yeh recorded a team-leading 16 digs

UMass Boston Highlights

  • For the second-straight day, Bowdoin rallied for a reverse sweep win. The Polar Bears dropped the opening two sets to the Beacons 25-20 and 25-23 before the eventual comeback.

  • Bowdoin put together convincing wins in sets three and four in 25-14 and 25-12 to force a fifth set. 

  • The Polar Bears came away with a win with career-highs in kills by Hannah Woolley (11) and Kelsey Kim (8). 

  • Alison Smith (14) and Skye LaMendola (11) led the team in kills while Cameron Shelly had 25 assists and Anna Yeh had 23 digs to lead Bowdoin. 

Up Next

  • Bowdoin returns to Morrell Gymnasium for two contests next week. The Polar Bears welcome Maine Maritime Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday before hosting Colby Friday at 7:00 p.m. for a NESCAC tilt.
