Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Drops Conference Matchup to Wesleyan

Brunswick, Maine - The women's soccer team dropped a conference game to Wesleyan University 4-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Polar Bears drop to 3-2-0 (1-2-0 NESCAC) while the Cardinals improve to 5-1-0 (2-1-0 NESCAC).

Game Highlights:

  • The Cardinals offense was on the attack from the start, scoring goals in the 8th, 17th, and 40th minutes of the first half. 
  • A few minutes into the second half, Mary Rainey had an excellent opportunity over the goalie's outstretched arm, but the ball hit the crossbar. 
  • The Cardinals immediately went on the counterattack and made the score 4-0.

By The Numbers:

  • Natalie Cooke got her first start for the Polar Bears, making 4 saves while allowing 4 goals.
  • Despite the lopsided score, the Polar Bears had the shots on goal advantage at 9 to 8.
  • Maggie DiRienzo made 9 saves for the Cardinals.
