Volleyball completes reverse sweep at Conn College

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Junior Alison Smith posted a career-high 23 kills to help the Bowdoin College volleyball team complete a reverse sweep on the road at Connecticut College to open NESCAC Play on Friday evening. The Polar Bears move to 5-3 (1-0 NESCAC) on the season while the Camels drop to 2-5 (0-1 NESCAC).

Game Highlights

  • The two teams played closely in the first three sets, playing to a 15-all start with the home team coming away with set wins of 25-18 in the first round and 25-22 in the second set before Bowdoin notched a 25-20 decision in set three to start the comeback. 

  • Separation began in the fourth set with the Polar Bears taking the largest lead of the day with a 11-4 edge to start before taking the set by a score of 25-18.

  • The Polar Bears were played closely by the home team, as the Camels nearly erased a 13-8 deficit, although the visitors escaped with a 15-13 win to complete the reserve sweep.

  • Bowdoin has two more contests on deck over the weekend, traveling to Hartford, Connecticut, for Saturday tilts against Trinity (12:00 p.m.) and UMass Boston (2:00 p.m.).
