Women's Soccer Rallies From Early Deficit in Victory at UNE

BIDDEFORD, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's soccer team rallied from an early deficit to extend their winning streak to three matches with a 2-1 win at the University of New England on Tuesday night. The Polar Bears stand at 3-1-0 on the year while the Nor'easters fall to 4-2-0.

Game Highlights
  • Despite owning a 7-3 advantage in shots in the opening half, it was the Nor'easters who broke through first on Tuesday evening, getting a goal in the 16th minute from Jill Hodgson.
  • Bowdoin picked up the pressure and cashed in before halftime when a free kick was played from 35 yards out by Mary Rainey, who found Kayley Huleatt in the box. Huleatt headed the ball to the back post, where Jackie Shores banged it home to even the score.
  • The Polar Bears controlled the run of play in the second half but couldn't find the go-ahead goal until the 70th minute. Eliza Knight-Bairstow broke behind the UNE midfield and played the ball ahead to Huleatt, who beat the oncoming goaltender to the ball and delivered a low dart into the back of the net to secure the victory for Bowdoin.
By The Numbers
  • Bowdoin ended with a 13-5 advantage in shots in the contest.
  • Ilana Posner made two saves in goal for the Polar Bears.
  • The match was the first meeting between the teams since 2023. Bowdoin extended its unbeaten streak against the Nor'easters to 14, and are 13-0-1 dating back to 2006.
