AMHERST, Mass. - The Bowdoin College women's soccer team scored twice in a span of six minutes in the second half to earn a big NESCAC road win at Amherst on Saturday, 3-2. The Polar Bears improve to 2-1-0 (1-1-0 NESCAC) while the Mammoths fall to 1-2-0 (0-2-0 NESCAC).

Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin got on the board early following their first corner kick of the contest when Mary Rainey flicked home a ball in front just 4:53 into the contest to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
  • The Polar Bears maintained that lead into the 75th minute, when Amherst evened the score on a goal by Ani Populoh.
  • Bowdoin answered almost immediately, however, as Kayley Huleatt centered to first-year Eliza Knight Bairstow, who tallied her first collegiate goal at 76:41 with a powerful strike to the top-left corner to regain a one-goal lead.
  • Then, in the 83rd minute, rookie Anna Lenschow added her first collegiate score, finishing off a scramble in front with a blast to the lower right corner to make it 3-1 Polar Bears.
  • Amherst closed the gap with a goal scored with just 2:24 remaining, but could get no closer as the Polar Bears held on to win.
