Ben Lamanna headlined All-NESCAC honors for the Polar Bear women's tennis teams announced by the league.
Hung was named First Team All-NESCAC in singles and the NESCAC Senior Sportswoman of the Year while
Ben Lamanna was named the NESCAC Coach of the Year. Sophomore
Suzanne Pogorelec (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) was also named First Team singles and was joined by partner Hung as Second Team doubles selections. Junior
Zoe Sun (Sherborn, Mass.) was a Second Team singles selection and, along with partner
Bella Hartung (Oviedo, Fla.) were a First Team All-NESCAC doubles team.
Playing at number one singles this season, Hung racked up a 14-11 singles mark and teamed with Pogorelec to go 16-6 at number two doubles in dual matches for Bowdoin this spring. Hung is the second consecutive Bowdoin player and fourth Polar Bear overall to earn the Senior Sportswoman of the Year honor. The honor is awarded annually to the individual who has displayed a high standard of tennis and the highest levels of sportsmanship.
In singles play, Pogorelec went 17-9 this year, including an 11-6 mark in dual matches playing at number two.
Zoe Sun went 24-10 on the year in singles play, including a 16-5 mark in spring dual matches. Sun and Hartung played number one doubles for the Polar Bears, going 13-10 this spring.
Head coach
Ben Lamanna is the NESCAC Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season, as voted by his peers. Lamanna led Bowdoin to the No. 2 seed in the NESCAC Tournament and reached the championship match for the first time in program history. Bowdoin went 15-8 this season, advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the second straight season.
