Women's Tennis Bows Out of NCAA Tournament In Quarterfinal Loss to CMS

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Bowdoin women's tennis team saw its season come to an end in a 4-0 NCAA Quarterfinal loss to top-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
 
The Polar Bears end the season at 15-8 in the quarterfinals. The Athenas are undefeated in Division III play this season and topped Bowdoin in both meetings this year. Bowdoin made it second consecutive appearance in the Elite Eight following a five year absence from the tournament. The 2026 mark the sixth trip to the quarterfinals in program history.
 
Match Highlights
  • CMS captured the doubles point with wins at #1 and #3 to begin the day.
  • Bowdoin dropped matches at #5 and #1 to trail the Athenas 3-0.
  • Bella Hartung was ahead at #3 (6-3, 6-5) but was unable to win the match before the final three-setter clinched the day for CMS at #6.
  • Julia Ross battled in the six spot. After dropping the first set 6-0, Ross forced a deciding third set with a 6-1 win in the second.
