Men's Lacrosse Clinches NESCAC Top Seed in History-Making Win Over Tufts

MEDFORD, Mass. - The Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team snapped Tufts' record-setting 42-game winning streak on Wednesday evening, rallying for a 14-12 win to complete the second perfect regular season in program history. 

The win gives the Polar Bears (14-0, 10-0 NESCAC) the top seed for the upcoming NESCAC Tournament and their first win over Tufts since 2017. The 2026 squad joins the 1989 team as the only Polar Bear teams to post an undefeated regular season.

Game Highlights
  • Casey Ryan scored the game's first goal just under two minutes into play and Tufts answered a minute later.
  • The Polar Bears went on a four goal run to close out the first quarter with a 5-1 lead. Hudson Greene and Chris Berry each scored two in the streak.
  • Tufts came out and scored three straight goals to open the second and make it 5-4 before a trio of Sam Raye-Steiner goals pushed Bowdoin back up to 8-4.
  • Bowdoin and the Jumbos traded goals in the final four minutes.
  • The Jumbos opened the third with five unanswered goals that gave them a 10-9 lead midway through the quarter. Bowdoin scored a pair to close out the 15 minutes and regain a one goal lead.
  • The teams alternated scoring in the fourth, resulting in a 14-12 final in favor of the Polar Bears.
 
By the Numbers
  • Berry scored three goals and dished out one assist.
  • Raye-Steiner and Greene both tallied four goals.
  • Casey Ryan split his offensive output with a pair of assists and pair of goals.
  • Alex Choi and Alex Byrne each snagged five ground balls.
  • Bowdoin held a 17-13 edge on the dot as Choi went 11-for-15 and Cam Wietfeldt was 6-for-15.
  • Alec Delgado made 12 saves in the win.

  • Bowdoin will host eighth-seeded Williams in the conference quarterfinals Saturday at Whittier Field at 1:00 p.m. The Polar Bears beat the Ephs 17-7 in the regular season meeting back on March 14.
