Polar Bears Split With Trinity on Saturday

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Bowdoin baseball split its Saturday doubleheader at Trinity with a game one win and game two loss.
 
The Polar Bears are 11-13 with a 3-6 NESCAC record after winning game one 6-5 and dropping the nightcap 10-6.  The Bantams are 17-7 (4-2 NESCAC).
 
Game One Highlights
  • Wim Nook drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the first to put Bowdoin up 1-0. The Polar Bears added two more runs as Henry Bibeau put the ball in play and both Tommy O'Donnell and Will Bordes were able to score.
  • Trinity pulled within one in the bottom of the second, but Bowdoin extended its lead with two more runs in the third. O'Donnell had an RBI triple and later scored on an error.
  • Will Cooke made it 6-2 with an RBI groundout to second in the fourth.
  • Trinity got three runs on the board in the fourth with two doubles.
  • O'Donnel and Reuben Siegel were the lone Polar Bears with multiple hits.
  • Will Bordes went four innings on the mound with eight hits allowed and three strikeouts.
  • Sam Sacerdote got the save with three innings of work and no runs allowed.
 
Game Two Highlights
  • Trinity exploded for four runs in the first inning and kept Bowdoin silent until the fourth.
  • O'Donnell hit an RBI groundout in the fourth to plate Bordes.
  • Two bases loaded walks in the fourth allowed two more runs to score for Trinity.
  • Cole Mascolo singled in the fifth to make it 7-1
  • Conor Moriarty hit a two-run double in the sixth to make it 7-3 before Trinity scored three more runs in the sixth and seventh.
  • Bowdoin rallied in the ninth with three runs off a Bordes single and Wim Nook single. O'Donnell drove in a run when he was hit by a pitch.
  • O'Donnell and Moriarty were the lone Polar Bears with multiple hits.
  • Seven Bowdoin pitchers took the mound and combined for nine hits, seven walks and seven strikeouts.
