Second Half Rally Lifts Men's Lacrosse To Win at Babson in Top-Ten Clash

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team dominated the second half to rally for a 12-8 win at Babson on Tuesday night in a battle of Division III top-ten teams. The second-ranked Polar Bears remain unbeaten at 7-0 while the seventh-ranked Beavers drop their first game of the year and drop to 8-1.

Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin's high-scoring offense was stifled by Babson in the opening half as the hosts contained the Polar Bears to a season-low two goals over the first 30 minutes.
  • The Polar Bears defense kept the team in the game, permitting just four goals themselves as Alec Delgado made nine first-half saves and Bowdoin trailed just 4-2 at the break.
  • Bowdoin roared to life in the third quarter, scoring four times in the first eight minutes, from four different scorers, to take a 6-4 lead.
  • Babson tied it at 6-6 and then again at 7-7, but late goals by Chris Berry and Casey Ryan to cap the third quarter gave the Polar Bears a 9-7 edge heading to the fourth.
  • After an early goal by Babson cut it to 9-8, Bowdoin's Will Lesko scored a key man-up goal that sparked a game-ending three-goal run as the Polar Bears pulled away, outscoring Babson10-4 in the second half to take the win.
By The Numbers
  • Bowdoin was outstanding on the faceoff dot as Alex Choi (7-11) and Cam Wietfeldt (9-12) helped the Polar Bears maintain possession, especially during the third quarter when Bowdoin owned a 9-1 advantage in faceoff wins.
