Men's Lacrosse Sprints Past Wesleyan in Nationally-Ranked Battle

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team earned a big conference road win at Saturday, picking up a 17-12 win at Wesleyan. The second-ranked Polar Bears improve to 6-0 (4-0 NESCAC) while the 13th-ranked Cardinals drop to 5-2 (1-2 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • The Polar Bears never trailed, controlling the game from the jump, as five different scorers sparked a game-opening 5-1 surge.
  • Bowdoin increased their lead to 10-3 on an Alex Byrne goal late in the second quarter, but the Cardinals got one back to cut it to 10-4 at halftime.
  • Wesleyan rallied in the third quarter, trimming the lead to 12-8 late entering the fourth period.
  • Bowdoin got a goal from faceoff specialist Cam Wietfeldt immediately to start the fourth quarter and the Cardinals could get no closer than three goals for the remainder of the contest.

  • Twelve different players scored for the Polar Bears, led by three goals and three assists from Casey Ryan.
  • Chris Berry had two goals and three assists while Sam Raye-Steiner had two goals and two assists.
  • Alex Byrne had two caused turnovers, two goals, and four ground balls for Bowdoin while Nico Schermer had seven ground balls and three caused turnovers.
  • Cam Wietfeldt won 15-23 faceoffs for Bowdoin and Alec Delgado finished with 12 saves in the victory.
