Women's Hoops Rolls Past Middlebury in Convincing Conference Win

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team dominated the second half of a 75-47 win at Middlebury on Friday night. The Polar Bears remain unbeaten in NESCAC play at 19-1 (7-0 NESCAC) while the Panthers fall to 11-10 (2-5 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Hot shooting out of the gate saw the Polar Bears connect on 61% in the first quarter, building a 23-15 lead thanks to a pair of Payton Collins three-pointers.
  • Seven points from Abbie Quinn in the second quarter gave Bowdoin a 39-28 lead at the break.
  • Middlebury was able to cut the lead to six points on two occasions in the third quarter, the last of which coming with 4:30 left in the frame, 44-38.
  • Grace Kinum immediately answered with a bucket for Bowdoin, sparking a 12-3 Polar Bear run as the Polar Bears carried a 56-43 lead into the final stanza.
  • The Bowdoin defense closed it out with a dominating final ten minutes, holding Middlebury to 1-12 shooting and just four points.
  • The Polar Bears closed out the final 14:30 of the game by outscoring the Panthers 31-9.

  • Bowdoin shot 45% from the field in the win, including 11-25 (44%) from three-point range.
  • Maria Belardi and Abbie Quinn paced Bowdoin with 16 points apiece. Belardi added eight boards and two steals.
  • Grace Kinum had a double-double with 11 points, ten boards, four assists, and two steals.
  • Payton Collins added 14 big points off the bench, going 4-5 from long distance.
  • The Polar Bear defense held Middlebury to 37% shooting and scored 24 points off turnovers and owned a commanding 40-23 advantage on the glass.
