Kinum Matches Career High as Women's Basketball Beats Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Bowdoin women's basketball team remained unbeaten in NESCAC play, pulling away in the second half at Williams for a 64-51 win on Saturday afternoon. The Polar Bears move to 20-1 (8-0 NESCAC) while the Ephs fall to 10-12 (3-5 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • The Ephs stayed within striking distance throughout as Bowdoin opened up a seven-point lead on multiple occasions, only to see Williams come storming back.
  • Bowdoin led 32-25 at halftime but the Ephs burst out of the break on a 10-0 run to take a 35-33 lead midway through the third period.
  • Tied at 40 later in the frame, a layup by Grace Kinum and three-pointer by Jamie Yue gave Bowdoin a five-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.
  • For the second straight night the fourth quarter belonged to the Polar Bears as Bowdoin scored the first ten points of the frame, highlighted by five from Kinum, to push their lead to 55-42 with 5:45 remaining.
  • The Polar Bears outscored Williams 17-9 in the final frame, leading by as many as 16 on their way to the win.
By The Numbers
  • Grace Kinum matched her career high with 26 points to go with six rebounds while Maria Belardi scored 12 points and six boards.
  • Jamie Yue scored nine points with six boards, three assists and three steals.
  • Bowdoin finished at 40% shooting while Williams connected on 42% but the Polar Bears owned a 40-29 edge in rebounding and scored 16 second chance points.
  • The Polar Bears have won 14 of their last 15 meetings with the Ephs dating back to 2014.
