Long-Distance Shooting Lifts Women's Hoops to Rout of Maine Maritime

CASTINE, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team tied a school record with 15 three-pointers in a 76-51 blowout of Maine Maritime on Tuesday evening. The Polar Bears (18-1) extend their winning streak to ten games while the Mariners fall to 14-8 on the season. 

Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin nailed a school-record nine three-pointers in the first half, leading 28-12 after one quarter and carrying a 45-26 lead into the break. 
  • The Polar Bears connected on 63% of their shots in the opening twenty minutes of the contest. 
  • Bowdoin put the game away with a 23-8 third quarter, continuing their hot shooting, and led by as many as 34 points in the second half on their way to the win. 
By The Numbers
  • Bowdoin's 15 three-pointers tied the record for a single game set in 2016 against Norwich and duplicated in 2017 against Husson. The nine first half three-pointers broke the mark for trifectas in a half (8) set in 2006 against Smith. 
  • Payton Collins led the way with five three-pointers on her way to a career-high 15 points while Maria Belardi added four three-pointers and finished with 14. 
  • Grace Kinum ended with a game-high 16 points, five assists, two blocks, and two steals. 
  • Rachel Storey finished with a season-high 12 points on 5-6 shooting in just 12 minutes of action. 
  • Bowdoin finished at 55% shooting for the game, 55% from long distance and scored 76 points despite going to the free throw line just six times in the game. 
  • The Polar Bear defense held MMA to 37% shooting and scored 26 points off 21 Mariner turnovers.
