Polar Bears Win With Last Second Goal Against Connecticut College

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team snapped its winless streak with a last-minute goal to topple Connecticut College on Friday night.
 
The Polar Bears return to the win column and sit at 10-10-0 (4-9-0 NESCAC). The Camels slip to 7-12-2 (3-11-1 NESCAC).

Game Highlights
  • The Camels took the game's first lead with 4:26 remaining in the first period. Christine Oar circled around the back of the net and popped out along the right post. Oar made a cross-crease pass to Olivia Montembeault for a one-timer on the far post.
  • Bowdoin found an equalizer at 6:53 in the third period. Elena Dimagno banked a pass off the far right boards and the puck bounced back into the slot for a diving Maddie Wojciak to put away.
  • Bowdoin took the lead six minutes later. Bella Schifano put a shot on pads and Bella Mele put away the rebound.
  • Connecticut College tied the game with a six-on-four opportunity with 58 seconds remaining in the game. Casey Chesner fed Lily Stern who passed back to Chesner for a shot from the top.
  • Emma Merrill came up with the game-winner in the final 12 seconds after a cluster in front of the net resulted in the puck squirting out and opening up a screened shot from the right circle.
 
By the Numbers
  • Devon Galizio made 16 stops for the Camels.
  • Sarah Peterson had a 20 save performance in the win.
  • Bowdoin held a narrow 22-21 edge in faceoff wins.
  • Connecticut College went 1-for-5 on the power play.
