Second Half Propels Women's Hoops to Win at Tufts

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team pulled away in the second half to earn a 76-60 win at Tufts on Friday evening. The Polar Bears earn a win in their first NESCAC contest of the year, improving to 10-1 (1-0 NESCAC) while the Jumbos fall to 7-6 (0-1 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • A trio of three-pointer sparked Tufts to a 17-13 lead after one quarter of play, but Bowdoin answered with a big second quarter, connecting on 57% from the field to claim a 34-30 edge at the break.
  • The teams traded blows to open the third quarter, as Bowdoin owned a slim 45-43 lead midway through the period.
  • Consecutive three-pointers by Carly Davey sparked a 10-0 run by Bowdoin that gave the Polar Bears command of the contest.
  • Bowdoin led by 13 points entering the fourth quarter, and by as many as 17 points in the final frame on their way to the victory.
By The Numbers
  • Bowdoin connected on 46% from the field while Tufts posted a 41% mark from the field. The Polar Bears owned a 38-27 advantage on the glass.
  • Abbie Quinn was outstanding, scoring 22 points with eight rebounds on 7-11 shooting from the field.
  • Carly Davey scored 19 points, including four three-pointers, while Grace Kinum added 13 points, eight boards, four assists and two steals.
  • Melissa Leone had seven rebounds off the bench for Bowdoin.
