Women's Hockey Rolls William Smith on Tuesday Evening

AMHERST, Mass. -  The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team picked up its second win of the season over William Smith in a 6-2 neutral ice contest at UMass-Amherst.
 
The Polar Bears climb to 9-2-0 and drop the Herons to 7-4-0. Bowdoin won both games this season by a four goal margin.
 
Game Highlights
  • Anyi Sun scored her first of two goals with a tally at 6:03 in the first. Sun buried a near side wrister in the top right corner to make it 1-0.
  • William Smith responded with a beautiful goal three minutes later. Bella Hacker drifted left to right across the middle of the zone and shot cross-body to the top left.
  • Bea Palmer responded 30 seconds later to regain the lead for Bowdoin with a left post finish.
  • Sun scored her second of the game in the 15th minute of the second with a wrister from the right to the opposite side.
  • Ava Provenzo made it 4-1 in the final 20 seconds of the frame. Sara Ito-Bagshaw skated the puck the length of the ice, coming down the left boards, and found Provenzo for a back door finish.
  • Ava Imposimato pushed the score to five late in the third period and Ainsley Lonczak found a second for the Herons. Luna Lu capped the game with a last minute unassisted tally.
 
By the Numbers
  • Bowdoin went 0-for-3 on the power play, as did William Smith.
  • Sarah Peterson made 15 stops in the win.
  • Mia Iwicki stopped 45 shots for the Herons.
  • Bowdoin won 28 faceoffs and gave up 23.
