Amherst Sweeps Women's Hockey In Weekend Series

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team suffered a series sweep at home against Amherst after the Mammoths won 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears slide to 9-8-0 (3-7-0 NESCAC). The Mammoths climb to 14-1-3 (7-0-3 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Amherst broke through with 3:44 remaining in the first period. Sami Lester took the puck down the right boards and put a shot off the chest of Sarah Peterson. The puck fluttered up and over Peterson's shoulder to break the plane.
  • Bowdoin nearly tied the game with under five to play in the second period. Meghan Britt put a shot off the right leg of Natalie Stott and the rebound sat at the open left post for Luna Lu. Lu scrabbled for the puck but missed just wide of the post.
  • The Mammoths doubled their lead midway through the final frame on a power play goal. Gretchen Dann fired a shot from the top of the zone and Peterson made a save, but the rebound popped up. Marie-Eve Marleau deflected the puck out of the air and into the net.
