Women's Hockey Stumbles At Home Against Amherst

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team suffered a 3-1 loss to visiting Amherst on Friday night.
 
The Polar Bears sit at 9-7-0 (3-6-0 NESCAC) as the second-ranked Mammoths climb to 13-1-3 (6-0-3 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • The Mammoths scored on the game's first power play, with the 1-0 tally coming at 6:42. Maeve Reynolds set up the goal with a feed from the left side to Gretchen Dann in the high slot. Dann fired off a one-timer that beat Bowdoin goalie Abby Matusovich.
  • Amherst doubled its lead after Sami Lester put a shot on pads and Junfei Zhu cleaned up the rebound with under five minutes remaining in the first.
  • Bowdoin came out and scored three minutes into the second period to cut the lead in half. Meghan Britt intercepted a puck along the back boards and found Luna Lu in front of the crease. Lu ripped a one-timer past Natalie Stott.
  • Amherst iced the game with an unassisted empty-net goal in the final 30 seconds of the game.
