Women's Hoops Nets Friday Win Over Hamilton

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team held off Hamilton for a 59-50 win on Friday night in Morrell Gymnasium. The Polar Bears improve to 15-1 (5-0 NESCAC) while the Continentals fall to 9-10 (1-4 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Grace Kinum scored seven early points as the Polar Bears jumped to a 20-7 lead midway through the opening frame.
  • Hamilton rallied, closing the gap to 20-12 by the end of the quarter and rolling off a 16-2 run overall that gave them their only lead of the contest, 23-22, with 5:30 to go in the second period.
  • Abbie Quinn battled early foul trouble but took over late in the second frame, scoring ten points as part of a 12-4 Bowdoin run to end the half, giving the hosts a 34-27 edge at the break.
  • Bowdoin increased their lead to as many as 13 points in the second half as Hamilton got no closer than seven in the fourth quarter.

  • Abbie Quinn ended with 21 points on 10-17 shooting from the field while Maria Belardi knocked down four three-pointers and ended with 12.
  • Kinum scored 11 points with seven rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Jamie Yue had a team-high five steals and five assists.
  • Bowdoin finished at 40% shooting and held Hamilton to 35% from the field while scoring 20 points off turnovers in the victory.
  • The win moved the Polar Bears to 17-0 all-time against Hamilton.
