Middlebury Sweeps Women's Hockey Weekend Series

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team suffered a series sweep at the hands of Middlebury following a 2-1 loss on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears slide to 9-6-0 (3-5-0 NESCAC) as the Panthers remain at the top of the league with an 11-2-3 (7-1-2 NESCAC) record.

Game Highlights
  • The Panthers had a short power play opportunity early in the second period and converted to take a 1-0 lead. Kate Flynn fired a shot from the right point and a big rebound gave Olivia Gordon a clear look on the far post.
  • Bowdoin evened the game in the final three minutes of the frame. Maddie Wojciak banked a pass off the right side glass out of Bowdoin's zone and up the ice. Luna Lu beat a defender and skated on net, drawing the goalie left before pulling back to the right and putting a shot away.
  • Middlebury regained the lead a minute later as Avery McInerny found Trinity Walsh in front for a shot that slid across the ice and through Abby Matusovich's pads.
