Men's Hockey Comes Out On Top In Overtime At Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Ricky Volpe scored an overtime goal to lift the Bowdoin men's ice hockey team to a 5-4 victory at Williams on Saturday.

Bowdoin climbs to 11-5-1 with a 7-3-1 NESCAC record. The Ephs drop to 5-10-2 (4-7-0 NESCAC). Bowdoin swept the series against Williams with Saturday's win and the 7-2 victory on November 15.
 
Game Highlights
  • The Ephs got on the board 6:29 into the first period with a power play tally. Logan Valkama took a low angle shot on the right side that snuck through.
  • Bowdoin answered with a power play goal with 5:17 remaining in the frame. Bryce Bollman circled with the puck around the back of the Williams net and found Michael Dinges in the slot. Dinges received the feed and put a quick wrister into the net.
  • Williams came out and scored three minutes into the second period to regain the lead. The Ephs buzzed around the Bowdoin zone and finally came up with a Wilson Farrow finish off a backdoor play.
  • The Polar Bears responded at 6:43 as Louie Marcellino found Aidan Lyons in the slot for a one-timer.
  • Bowdoin scored two goals in the last three minutes of the period to go ahead 4-2. Aidan Lyons finished off a deflected puck that skidded out to the left side and Louie Marcellino put away a far post feed.
  • The Ephs pulled within one in the opening five minutes of the third as Jared Lambright fired from the top of the zone and Jake McManus finished on the right side.
  • Williams forced overtime with a scrum goal midway through the third, making it 4-4.
  • Will Rice and Marcellino were on the ice with Volpe for the overtime-winning shift that saw the trio connect a series of passes down the ice before a one-timer blast by Volpe to seal the deal.

  • Jacob Osborne earned the win with a 30 save performance.
  • Harrison Fogel kept the Ephs in the game with 33 stops.
  • Bowdoin went 1-for-3 on the power play
  • Williams went 1-for-2 on the power play.
  • The Polar Bears won 33 faceoffs to 29 for Williams.
