Second Half Surge Lifts Women's Basketball to Win Over Wheaton

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team used a big second half to pull away from Wheaton in a 64-44 win on Friday evening in Morrell Gymnasium. The Polar Bears move to 9-1 on the year while the Lyons fall to 3-8.
 
Game Highlights
  • The teams played a back-and-forth opening half, and were knotted at 27 with less than two minutes to go on the second quarter.
  • A late three-pointer by Carly Davey gave Bowdoin a 30-27 edge heading into the break.
  • Bowdoin scored the first six points of the second half, and pushed the lead to double digits as Abbie Quinn scored eight points in the first three minutes of the third quarter.
  • Maria Belardi sparked the Polar Bears with a trio of three-pointers that increased the lead to as many as 17 points in the frame.
  • The Polar Bear defense held Wheaton to just seven points in the fourth quarter, leading by as many as 22 points down the stretch to cap the win.

  • A balanced Bowdoin attack saw four players in double digits, led by 14 points apiece from Abbie Quinn and Maria Belardi.
  • Grace Kinum had 13 points, six rebounds, six assists, and three steals for Bowdoin while Carly Davey also added 13 points.
  • Bowdoin owned a 41-32 advantage on the glass and scored 18 points off turnovers and held Wheaton to 32% from the field.
