BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team dominated Bates in a convincing 62-49 win on Friday night in Morrell Gymnasium. The eighth-ranked Polar Bears, who led by as many as 21 points in the second half, improve to 13-1 (3-0 NESCAC) while the 14
th-ranked Bobcats fall to 13-2 (2-1 NESCAC) with both of their losses this season coming at the hands of the Polar Bears.
Game Highlights
- The Bobcats came out red hot, sprinting to a 13-4 lead out of the gate thanks to ten early points from Sarah Hughes.
- But that would be the high point of the night for the Bobcats, who were locked down by Bowdoin's defense thereafter.
- While Bowdoin held Bates scoreless for the next 8:56 as the Polar Bears rolled off 12 straight points and never trailed again. Abbie Quinn scored eight of those points as Bowdoin carried a 24-18 edge into the break.
- The Polar Bears put the game away in the third, shooting 66% from the field, highlighted by seven points from Carly Davey to push the lead to 17, 45-28, by the end of the frame. Bowdoin outscored Bates 21-10 in the stanza.
- Bowdoin pushed its lead to as many as 21 points before Bates scored eight points in the final 90 seconds to trim the final margin to 13.

- Carly Davey matched her career high with 21 points, going 6-7 from the field and 7-7 from the free throw line in the contest. That follows a 19-point performance in the team's non-conference meeting in Lewiston in December.
- Abbie Quinn matched Davey with 21 points and four blocks, connecting on 50% from the field. The reigning NESCAC Player of the Week is averaging 17.3 points per game in Bowdoin's last six contests.
- Grace Kinum scored eight points with eight rebounds, six assists and two steals while Rachel Storey and Jamie Yue had six rebounds apiece.
- Bowdoin finished at 45% shooting for the game while holding Bates to 28% from the field – including just 21% in the second and third quarters combined.
- The win was Bowdoin's fifth straight against their Lewiston neighbors, dating back to the 2024 NESCAC title game.
