Volleyball Caps Weekend With Sweep of Rochester

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Bowdoin College volleyball team finished off a successful weekend at the Red Dragon Tournament with a 3-0 sweep of Rochester on Sunday. The Polar Bears have won two straight matches and stand at 2-2 overall this fall.
 
Match Highlights
  • Bowdoin took the win by set scores of 29-27, 25-23, 25-15.
  • Down 24-21 in the first set, Bowdoin rallied to win four straight points, and fended off six set points in all before closing the frame on a 4-1 run, capped by a Hannah Woolley block to win the opener, 29-27.
  • Another close second set saw Bowdoin hold a late lead before Rochester rallied to close within 24-23. Another block by Woolley sealed the 25-23 win.
  • The Polar Bears cruised in the third to complete the sweep, rolling off an 8-1 run in the middle of the set to secure the victory.
By The Numbers
  • Offensively Skye LaMendola and Alison Smith led Bowdoin with 11 kills apiece. While LaMendola pitched in 10 digs along with three aces, and Smith had four blocks.
  • Haley Campau had five kills and eight blocks for the Polar Bears.
  • Anna Yeh notched 20 assists while Cameron Shelley had 16.
