WATERVILLE, Maine – The Bowdoin women's soccer team could not find the back of the net and suffered a 1-0 loss at Colby to begin conference play.
 
The Polar Bears are 1-1-0 (0-1-0 NESCAC). The Mules begin the year with a 1-0-0 (1-0-0 NESCAC) mark.
 
Game Highlights

• Colby scored the game's lone goal nine minutes into the second half. Abigail Jarvi worked the ball in Bowdoin territory and lined up a shot from beyond the top left side of the box. Jarvi booted an arcing shot over defenders and teammates. The ball sailed perfectly beyond the outstretched hands of Charlotte Iannone to the top right corner of the net.
• Kayley Huleatt nearly found an equalizer in the 84^th minute, but was thwarted by a defender.
• Iannone disrupted play in the final minute to deny a breakaway opportunity for Colby by coming out and sliding through the attacker to deflect the ball away.

 
By the Numbers

• While Bowdoin was outshot 18-5 overall, Colby only held a 5-3 edge in shots on goal.
• Iannone ended the day with four stops.
• The Mules earned five corner kicks and gave up four.
