Volleyball Drops Season Opener to Endicott

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College volleyball team fell in a five-set decision to Endicott in its season-opener on Wednesday evening in Morrell Gymnasium. The Polar Bears dip to 0-1 on the season while the Gulls move to 3-0.
 
Match Highlights
  • The Gulls rallied from a two-set deficit to take a 20-25, 18-25, 25-15, 25-18, 15-8 victory.  
  • The tide shifted completely after Bowdoin easily won the first two sets. Endicott began chipping away, using a 7-0 run late in the third to take a 25-15 win.
  • In the fourth, the Gulls never trailed, riding a 6-1 surge midway through the frame as Bowdoin could get no closer than three points after that with Endicott taking a 25-18 triumph.
  • In the deciding fifth, Endicott scored the first four points and never looked back, closing out the match on a 4-1 run.
By The Numbers
  • Skye LaMendola had 14 kills and 22 digs while Alison Smith added 13 kills and four blocks for Bowdoin.
  • Anna Yeh had 37 assists while Hannah Woolley added four blocks.
  • Ava Grace Dresbeck led Endicott with 22 kills.
  • After committing just seven attack errors in the first two sets, Bowdoin committed 21 over the final three in the loss and also had eight service errors in the match.

  • Bowdoin will look to bounce back this weekend in upstate New York when they travel to play three matches in Cortland, N.Y., beginning Saturday at noon against Cortland.
