Field Hockey Suffers Double Overtime Loss At Hamilton

CLINTON, N.Y. – The Bowdoin field hockey team suffered its second straight overtime setback in a 4-3 double OT loss at Hamilton.

The Polar Bears sit at 5-2 (2-2 NESCAC) as the Continentals boast a 6-2 (2-2 NESCAC) record.

Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin took a 1-0 lead just 1:44 into the game as Emily Ferguson deflected a corner shot by Lily Clifford.
  • Hamilton made it 1-1 just under five minutes before halftime. The Continentals earned a corner and the initial shot deflected back off the right post only to see Sammy Higgins shove the ball home.
  • The Continentals took control in the final minutes of the third quarter. Claire Tratnyek scored from the top right side of the circle on another corner.
  • Ferguson tied the game in the 50th minute, burying a rebound. Just two minutes later, Ella Davies gave Bowdoin the lead once again with a finish on Mackay Bommer's cross cage feed to the left.
  • In the final four seconds of regulation, Higgins sent the game into overtime.
  • Hamilton secured the double overtime win after Isabelle Nahon buried a stroke.
 
By the Numbers
  • The Continentals held a 14-5 edge in shots on goal.
  • Hamilton tallied 12 corners and allowed 11.
  • Lauren O'Donald made ten stops.
  • Abby Griffin allowed one goal in the first half. Kelly Janssen allowed two goals with two saves.
