Men's Soccer Opens Season With 4-0 Win Over UNE

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's soccer team opened the 2025 campaign with a commanding 4-0 win over visiting University of New England on Tuesday evening.

The Polar Bears begin the year at 1-0-0. The Nor'Easters are 0-1-1.

Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin scored the first goal of the 2025 season just 5:49 into the opening half of play. Mateo Pacelli crossed a pass to Tyler Huck at the top right side of the box. Huck one-touched to settle the ball and fired a low shot to the far left corner.
  • Huck made it 2-0 in the final five minutes of the first half. The senior took the ball three steps to the middle of the 18 and booted a right footed shot to the same low left corner as his first goal.
  • Pacelli recorded his second assist of the game by setting up Adam Prince 3:28 into the second. Pacelli took the ball down the left side and lofted a cross to Prince for a header on the right.
  • Liam Elias scored his first collegiate goal in the final minutes to make it 4-0 in favor of Bowdoin. Felipe Rueda Duran took a corner kick from the left side and Elias finished off the play with a header in front of the net.
By the Numbers
  • Bowdoin allowed just three shots total, with none finding net minder Alex Ainsworth.
  • The Polar Bears peppered the net with 22 shots.
  • Bowdoin held a dominant 11-1 corner kick advantage.
