Pair of Early Goals Leads Men's Soccer to Win at Colby

WATERVILLE, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's socccer team used a pair of first half goals to defeat Colby on Saturday, 2-1. The Polar Bears improve to 2-0-0 (1-0-0 NESCAC) while the Mules drop to 1-1-0 (0-1-0 NESCAC) on the year.

Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin got all the scoring they needed in the first 20 minutes of the contest.
  • Less than nine minutes into the contest, Tyler Huck played a perfect corner kick cross to the head of Jack Banks on the back post, who put it home for a 1-0 Bowdoin lead.
  • 11 minutes later, Huck took a free kick from about 30 yards out that slipped through traffic to the foot of Lucas Nuernberg, who netted the first goal of his collegiate career at 19:32 to give the Polar Bears a two-goal buffer.
  • That proved to be important as Colby was awarded a penalty kick in the 39th minute, and the ensuing score cut the lead to 2-1 at the break.
  • Bowdoin controlled the pace of play in the second half, holding the Mules scoreless to clinch the win.
