Women's Rugby Runs Away From New Haven in D-II Opener

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Bowdoin College women's rugby team cruised to a 79-33 win at the University of New Haven in its opening match of the D-II campaign Saturday afternoon. The Polar Bears improve to 1-0 on the year with the win.
 
Match Highlights
  • The Polar Bears and Chargers traded scores in the early going, and were tied at 14-14 after ten minutes of play.
  • Bowdoin took command after that, rolling three straight scores to spark a 27-7 run.
  • The Chargers were able to add a late score to trim the lead to 13 points, 41-28 at intermission.
  • Bowdoin put the contest out of reach with 27 straight points to start the second half, opening up a 58-28 lead by the 57th minute and coasted the rest of the way en route to the win.
  • Evie Hamer and Malia Petelo had three tries apiece while Lulu Linkas had seven conversions to go with a try in the win.
