Men's Tennis Falls to Middlebury in NESCAC Title Match

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Bowdoin College men's tennis team came up just short on Sunday in the finals of the New England Small College Athletic Conference championship match to Middlebury, 4-1.
 
The Polar Bears fall to 17-4 on the season and are likely to receive an NCAA Tournament bid when selections are announced on Monday.
 
Match Highlights
  • The Panthers claimed the first two completed doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Jackson Codd/Mark Kneiss were ahead 5-4 when play was stopped.
  • With four courts available, Andrew Mendelson quickly won the first completed singles match at #6, taking a 6-1, 6-1 win to tie the match at 1-1 overall.
  • Bowdoin lost the first set at the three other matches in play, and pushed the Panthers to the limit in all of them, but lost at #1 Mark Kneiss (7-5, 6-4), #2 Pieter Breuker (6-4, 6-3) and #5 Kiran Garapati (7-6 (5), 6-1) to close out the match.
