Women's Tennis Tames Lions in Shutout NCAA Win

FALMOUTH, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's tennis team made quick work of The College of New Jersey on Saturday afternoon, advancing to the Third Round of the NCAA Tournament with a 4-0 win at Foreside Fitness. The Polar Bears (16-5) move on to Sunday's regional final at Pickard Courts against MIT while TCNJ ends its year with a record of 13-7.

  • The Polar Bears claimed two doubles matches quickly to earn the doubles point and a 1-0 overall lead.
  • Bella Hartung/Zoe Sun (6-1) and Suzanne Pogorelec/Cara Hung (6-1) posted the doubles wins for the Polar Bears.
  • Bowdoin won every first set in singles play and the three quickest to finish clinched the victory for the Polar Bears.
  • Jamilah Karah (6-1, 6-0), Pogorelec (6-1, 6-0), and Julia Ross were the ones to do it, sending Bowdoin to the next round.

  • Bowdoin will face MIT in the Third Round on Sunday at Pickard Courts with match time set for 1:00 p.m. The match was originally scheduled for 2:00 p.m. but was moved up one hour.
