Late Colby Surge Sinks Women's Lacrosse

BRUNSWICK, Maine – A fourth-quarter Colby rally sank the Bowdoin women's lacrosse team's bid for an upset in an 8-5 final at home on Wednesday night.
 
The Polar Bears slip to 5-6 (1-6 NESCAC) as the nationally-ranked Mules climb to 9-2 (5-2 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • A low scoring first quarter saw only one goal that game with six minutes remaining. Gennie Littlejohn put Colby on the board.
  • Bowdoin controlled the second quarter and took a 3-1 lead off goals from Miya Imaeda, Grace Harvey, and Ellie Fabbro.
  • Colby came out and scored early in the third to cut the deficit to one.
  • Molly Reed responded with a Bowdoin goal to make it 4-2.
  • Colby closed out the frame with a pair of goals to tie the game.
  • The Mules went on a three goal run to begin the fourth and take the lead.
  • Reed scored again in the final four minutes to make it 7-5, but Colby scored with less than a minute to play in rebuttal.
