Women's Tennis Shuts Out Williams After Suffering Similiar Fate at Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Bowdoin women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 sweep at Middlebury on Saturday afternoon but bounced back with a 7-0 sweep at Williams on Sunday.
 
The Polar Bears are 8-4 (3-2 NESCAC). The #6 Panthers climb to 9-2 and a perfect 5-0 in NESCAC. The Ephs are 4-6 (1-4 NESCAC).
 
Middlebury Match Highlights
  • The Polar Bears fell behind 1-0 after Middlebury swept doubles.
  • Jamilah Karah dropped her first set 4-6 but battled back to earn a 6-2 win in the second. Karah ultimately fell in the final set 6-7 (5-7) at #3.
  • Zoe Sun won the first set at #6 with a 7-5 victory. Sun lost a tiebreaker in the second (6-7, 1-7) and the third set was abbreviated. The final score was 7-5, 6-7, 9-11.
 
Williams Match Highlights
  • Bowdoin earned the doubles point with wins at #2 and #3. Julia Ross and Cara Hung cruised to a 6-1 victory at #3 to begin the day, while Zoe Sun and Bella Hartung won 6-3 at #2 to round out doubles action.
  • Hartung earned Bowdoin's second point of the day at #5 with a tidy 6-2, 6-2 win. Sun had a nearly identical 6-2, 6-3 win at #6.
  • Caroline Stuhlfaut battled in a back-and-forth match at the top spot and came away with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-1 win.
  • Julia Ross posted 6-4, 6-4 sets at #4 and Suzanne Pogorelec went 6-1, 7-5 at #3.
  • Jamilah Karah won a tight match at #2 (3-6, 7-6, 1-0).
